Invisible Braces in San Francisco
Who doesn’t love a picture perfect smile? Straight smiles bring confidence and security to their wearers. It’s not too late to show a beautifully aligned smile to the world. We want to help you make your dreams of a perfect smile come true.
Aligning your teeth isn’t a purely aesthetic improvement – it will also benefit your oral health. Patients with straight teeth have lower risks of tooth decay and gum disease. Straight teeth are easier to clean than crooked or crowded teeth.
Many people desire straighter, more aligned smiles yet are hesitant to use traditional orthodontics. Metal braces call attention to the wearer, and most patients, especially adults, would rather use an alignment system that is less noticeable and more comfortable. The answer is easy: Invisalign. Invisalign: Better Than Braces
Traditional metal braces do a good job of aligning teeth, but patients have to deal with certain less pleasant side effects throughout their treatment. Braces are difficult to keep clean. Flossing is a chore, and orthodontic patients sometimes skip this important step for tooth and gum health. There are tools made for flossing with braces, but Invisalign patients can use regular floss. The Invisalign aligners come out easily, which allow patients to resume their normal oral hygiene routines. Many people brush and floss more often during Invisalign treatment. You’ll remove your aligners to eat and drink, and once you’ve finished your meal or snack, you’ll most likely clean your mouth before returning your aligners.
The best way to find out if Invisalign is right for you is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Sosis. Invisalign generally treats a variety of dental issues. Invisalign can gently shift spaced or gapped teeth together to create a more ideal smile. Invisalign can also correct certain bite issues that cause unnecessary stress to your jaw and teeth. Patients with overbites, underbites, crossbites or open bites can benefit from Invisalign. Harmonizing these bites can alleviate muscle pain, headaches and jaw pain.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign invisible braces put you in charge of your alignment. Once you’ve been approved for Invisalign, we will take impressions, photos and X-rays of your mouth. We will then compose a digital 3-D image of your teeth from this information. This comprehensive image allows us to plan your treatment carefully. We can even show you how your teeth will shift during each stage of treatment with the advanced Invisalign software.
You will receive a series of smooth plastic custom aligner sets. Now you’re ready to being your Invisalign treatment. You will wear your aligners as much as possible; the more you wear them, the faster you’ll see results. Every 10-14 days you’ll switch to a new aligner set. Specific timelines will vary for each patient, but generally patients graduate to a new set every other week. You’ll need to come in every six weeks or so to make sure your treatment is on schedule.
Adults generally finish treatment in approximately one year, and sometimes treatment lasts less than a year. Invisalign Teen patients may take a little longer, since teenagers experience more tooth movement than adults. Invisalign Teen includes added features that benefit our younger patients. Teens receive up to six replacement aligners in case they lose a set. Invisalign Teen also includes a Blue Dot Wear Indicator that lets teens know when to switch to a new aligner set.
